A Lesson in Love at the Paris Cafe, JFK, New York.
Through innocence, creativity, and genuine connection, even the smallest act can touch heart. An inspiring tale to learn how to love, be loved, and touch someone’s heart.
The Magic of Touching a Heart
Love is a universal desire, a longing that resides in every human being. But how do we truly touch someone’s heart? How do we give love and receive it in return? Is it a magical process, or is it something we can understand and cultivate?
Many believe love requires alignment between the mind, heart, and soul. Like rain, it follows a process. The water on the ground must be touched by the sun’s energy, evaporated, and sent high into the clouds before it can return as nourishing droplets. Love, too, follows a similar path.
Even at 64, having been loved by many and having written and read countless love stories, the revelation of this process remained elusive to me. That is, until a recent dinner at the Paris Cafe at TWA, Terminal 5 in JFK, New York.
A Dinner with Family
My daughter, her husband, my two granddaughters, and my wife gathered around the table. The conversation flowed, and the love was palpable. But it was a simple gesture from one of my granddaughters that truly touched my heart.
She didn’t have the power to order or the money to buy things, but she had a wish, a will, and a determination to make her grandfather happy. She drew a champagne bottle and a wine glass with her little hands, adding her name to the artwork.
A Gift That Touched the Heart
As she handed me her drawing, something profound happened. I felt a surge of emotion, a connection beyond mere words or material gifts. Her simple act of love moved me deeply, and I forgot everything else at that moment.
I was immersed in her love, able to feel and enjoy the purity of her affection. Her drawing was more than just the art on paper; it was a testament to the power of genuine love and the ability to touch a heart.
Conclusion: A Lesson for All
The lesson from that evening at the Paris Cafe is one we all can take to heart. We don’t need grand gestures or expensive gifts to love and be loved. We need sincerity, a genuine desire to connect, and the courage to express our feelings.
My granddaughter’s drawing reminded me that love is not about what we have but who we are. It’s about the willingness to reach out and touch someone’s heart, to make them feel seen and valued.
In a world that often prioritizes material wealth and status, let us understand the simple acts of kindness that can make a profound difference. Remember that to touch a heart, all we need is love, sincerity, and the courage to show it.
